Performing for one night only at the Milton Theatre, this intimate concert is an exceptional opportunity to experience one of Australia's most talented and versatile jazz musicians.
Renowned globally as one of the finest jazz players of his generation, James Morrison is not only a trumpet virtuoso, but the complete showman.
James started playing professionally at age 13 and has a stellar professional career behind him: he has performed alongside the best jazz musicians of our generation and has had the privilege of performing for the President and First Lady of the United States.
A best-selling recording artist, he has toured the world and performed with some of the biggest legends in jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie (who called him “one of the best”), Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, and Wynton Marsalis.
He has played everywhere from New York’s famous Village Vanguard and The Blue Note to Europe’s prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival.
Throughout the evening Morrison will leads his Quartet through an evening of swinging jazz standards, sublime ballads and haunting Latin numbers – with a few surprises thrown in.
Together, the James Morrison Quartet have taken the international music scene by storm, performing at major festivals such as BBC Proms with superstar Dianne Reeves, Melbourne International Jazz Festival with Patti Austin, and performing at famous jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s in London.
