Joseph Tawadros AM is a 4-times ARIA award winning master of the Oud, a Middle Eastern lute.
Joseph has recorded 14 albums of original music and he is the oud player you hear on the ARIA award winning Ali’s Wedding soundtrack.
Expect a thrilling mix of Middle Eastern, jazz, traditional sounds and contemporary innovations, including music from Joseph’s new album The Bluebird, the Mystic and the Fool.
In his trio are Matt McMahon - one of Australia’s finest jazz pianists and James Tawadros – Joseph’s brother who is a virtuoso player of Egyptian percussion (req, frame drum).
Joseph is touring as a special guest with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in May and June 2018, while also presenting trio and solo concerts around the same time. The ACO will feature Tawadros original pieces in the concerts.
Joseph, 34, was born in Cairo, grew up in Sydney and currently lives in London. He performs all over the world often with orchestras presenting his original works, including BBC Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras and the Academy of Ancient Music in London. In 207 Joseph performed at the BBC Proms in Dubai, in Ukraine, Poland, Vienna, London, Manchester, as well as several Australian cities including the premiere of his Oud Concerto for Oud and Orchestra with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
